The class will offer practical and conceptual knowledge within set design, contextualized in the Brazilian Market, emphasizing creativity, sustainability and experimentation to attend to many different set design demands. Set design will be studied beyond the theatre and the traditional Italian stage. The students will learn how to turn limits into opportunities by developing original and unusual ideas. A creative dialogue between form and space will be presented during the classes starting from set design possibilities and the interaction of different medias. The traditional structures and coating materials will be studied as well as unpredictable materials, highlighting sustainability.

STUDENT’S PROFILE:
This class is destined to people interested in creative activities in general, students and professionals of set design, interior design, graphic or product design, who want to improve their studies and enlarge their artistic expression possibilities at set design. The course welcomes and recognizes inexperienced professionals who want to extend their material knowledge, techniques and creative practice at different areas of set design.
OUTCOME:
Students will get in familiar with the wide panorama of a set designer’s performance on the stage and beyond it. They will also learn about several unusual materials to Project set design with, as well as dynamic set design - structure and mechanical movement possibilities The result of the course is for students to be able to analyze briefings and know how to turn limits into opportunities, develop a creative process considering form x function and to present a set design project experimenting with study tools.
